Christiane Rösinger - The Joy of Ageing
What's it about?
Christiane Rösinger is a musician, Kreuzberg resident, and grandmother. As far as she's concerned, it could go on like this forever, were it not for aging and financial worries. Aging cannot be stopped, but to earn a little money, Christiane decides to write an aging guide. Without illusions, but with power. An energetic call to no longer tolerate how society treats women who are no longer young. Yet it's not so easy to find a relaxed attitude towards aging oneself. This is already evident in conversations with her friends, their different experiences and opinions: There's the dog woman, the self-optimizer, the one who moved to the countryside. No positive role model far and wide. Where are the role models? And above all: What helps when you suddenly find yourself in the stroke unit in the hospital? "The Joy of Ageing" (Rowohlt) is not a guide, but a bitingly funny book full of memories, thoughts, and stories that ultimately offers serious advice: complain less, live more.
