In the elegant setting of the historic Palais Ferstel, you can expect an extraordinary evening: The Philharmonic Ensemble celebrates the New Year 2026/27 with a festive concert of the Vienna Waltz tradition. The ensemble, founded in 2013 by the Philharmonic violinist Shkelzen Doli as a piano quartet, has had the opportunity to present itself internationally with its appearance in the intermission film of the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert in 2015, and has released the associated soundtrack on its first CD with Deutsche Grammophon. Since the Philharmonic Ensemble has always seen itself as flexible regarding repertoire and instrumentation, a chamber music ensemble has developed over the years, whose performances in a 13-member formation with Vienna Waltz programs are particularly popular with audiences at home and abroad. In the traditional Viennese program for the turn of the year, each of the 13 musicians from the Vienna Philharmonic represents their entire instrument group as the only one, and together the artists manage to create an authentic New Year's Concert atmosphere. Performers include members of the Vienna Philharmonic from the Philharmonic Ensemble. Program excerpts: Works by Johann Strauss II such as Eine Nacht in Venedig, Frühlingsstimmen, Wiener Blut, and Künstlerleben, as well as Franz Lehár's Gold and Silber, and Joseph Hellmesberger Jr.'s Kleiner Anzeiger and Leichtfüßig.
