Cooperative City and Regional Development

What's it about?

Communities and regions are undergoing change. Due to increasing urbanization, migration movements, climate change, and (economic) structural change, new challenges are emerging in city and regional development. This results in a variety of new framework conditions and steering questions that should be reflected in global, national, and local strategic guidelines, goals, and concepts. Due to the complexity of these issues, cooperation becomes an essential prerequisite in shaping and implementing spatial development processes. The continuing education program "Cooperative City and Regional Development" addresses these questions through five certificate programs: - The Sustainable Region - The Resilient Region - The Social Region - The Smart Region - The Entrepreneurial Region In the upcoming winter semester 2026/27, the certificate course "The Social Region" will be offered. Topics such as affordable housing, sustainable health organizations, social innovation, and participation formats will be introduced and discussed in terms of their regional and local impacts. The program focuses on, among other things, the fair design and use of public space, social space analyses, participatory involvement and planning procedures, as well as questions of basic services of daily life.
