How does she herself look back on her life in the spotlight of the 19th century? On her afterlife as an icon in dozens of films and series. Sisi's face adorns sweets and souvenirs, she is Austria's showpiece, the darling of a nation. At the same time, she is called a bad mother, anorexic, vain and selfish. Who is the woman behind all the images and stories? The young director Fritzi Wartenberg stages Mareike Fallwickl's monologue ELISABETH! and casts a multi-layered and feminist gaze on the Habsburg superstar.
