presented by ARCADIA LIVE Babyshambles were founded in London in 2004 by Peter Doherty after he temporarily separated from his band The Libertines. The formation quickly became one of the defining bands of British indie rock of the 2000s and made a name for themselves with their raw, unpolished sound between punk, rock and British songwriting tradition. After the reunion of The Libertines in 2014, Babyshambles took a creative break – now the band returns with new material! After a twelve-year release hiatus, Babyshambles make an impressive comeback: With “Dandy Hooligan”, the British cult band fronted by Peter Doherty presents their first new single in over a decade. The track captivates with its unmistakable Caribbean sound and combines reggae, ska and pop elements into a catchy earworm. Lyrically, the song is dedicated to the flamboyantly dressed bandmate Bob Morris, who has been active in the anti-fascist scene for years. Peter Doherty on the new song: "It’s a well turned-out, elegantly crafted; reggae-ska-pop song… with a sweet melody to bowl along to with your sharpened walking cane…. Word from the ‘shambles camp is that it’s a homage to a legendary National Front basher." "Dandy Hooligan" was recorded in Normandy and Manchester. Mike Moore (Baxter Drury) is responsible for the production, and Ross Orton (Arctic Monkeys, M.I.A., The Fall) handled the mix in Sheffield. The accompanying music video was shot by Roger Sargent in Soho – with Bob Morris himself in the lead role. On the occasion of their 20th anniversary, an expanded and remastered re-release of the debut album "Down In Albion" will also be released via Rough Trade Records. The Anniversary Edition contains session tracks, rarities and B-sides as a double vinyl in a limited cream-colored pressing.
