What's it about?

Founded in the Bay Area in 1985, Oakland thrashers 𝗩𝗜𝗢-𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 played a significant role in defining and refining the so-called Bay Area sound. With their acclaimed 1988 debut album "Eternal Nightmare", they established themselves as pioneers of the second wave of thrash. In 1988 and 1989, 𝗩𝗜𝗢-𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 toured with the album and celebrated great success alongside fellow thrash acts such as Testament, Voivod, Death Angel, Sanctuary, Nuclear Assault, D.R.I., M.O.D. and the Cro-Mags. In 1989, Megaforce Records/Atlantic signed the band, which led to the release of their second album "Oppressing the Masses" (1990). The band toured with the album to sold-out venues, along with bands like Overkill, Forbidden, Exodus, Flotsam & Jetsam and Prong. In 1991, 𝗩𝗜𝗢-𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 released their EP "Torture Tactics" and their third studio album "Nothing to Gain". In 1993, the band unfortunately split up, with some members breaking off to form the bands Torque and Machine Head. In 2019, the band finally reunited as 𝗩𝗜𝗢-𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘, with original members Phil Demmel (lead guitar), Sean Killian (vocals), Perry Strickland (drums) and new member Christian Olde Wolbers, the former bassist of Fear Factory.
