Gallizien, Carinthia
Its name is derived from the Wildenstein castle ruin located above, which is said to have been destroyed in the earthquake of 1348. Today, a district of the municipality of Gallizien bears the name Wildenstein. The serpentine ascent to the waterfall is harmless in the first two thirds; in the last third, it becomes somewhat more strenuous. With each step, the rushing and refreshing coolness of the waterfall approaches. On the platform at Wildensteiner Wasserfall, seating has been arranged, allowing visitors to rest and enjoy the view of the waterfall, which emerges from the vertical rock face and falls 54 meters down. From here, one can also start a beautiful but not easy hike to Hochobir (2,139 m).
