The two-story arcaded walkway frames the castle park, which opens to the south. The park with its old trees is the heart of Schloss Welsdorf. The castle, which is located outside the spa capital Fürstenfeld, can be booked exclusively - up to 110 people can be accommodated here. History of Schloss Welsdorf Schloss Welsdorf was originally part of the dominion of Stein in Fürstenfeld and was held as a fief by the Teufenbach-Maierhofen and then the Perner. The small estate was sold at the beginning of the 16th century by Christof Perner, and a tranquil Meierhof (manor farm) was established. Through Wolf von Wilfersdorf, it was possible to shake off the feudal subservience to the dominion of Fürstenfeld am Stein and establish a noble seat. During the Haiduken (irregular cavalry) invasion in 1605, the entire property fell victim to the flames. The reconstruction was slow. After several turbulent changes of ownership, the property passed to the Augustinian Canons' Monastery Pöllau at the beginning of the 18th century, who expanded the residence into a four-wing complex. Schloss Welsdorf was then used as a summer residence for the provosts. After the dissolution of the Pöllau monastery, the castle became state property. After that, the owners changed several times. In 1945, the castle was severely damaged by war and subsequently plundered. Of the formerly four massive square corner towers, three are still preserved. Schloss Welsdorf was once surrounded by a wall and bastions, although today only fragments of the former fortifications remain. Around 1968, Univ. Prof. Dr. Rudolf Aizetmüller and his wife Univ. Prof. Dr. Linda Aizetmüller-Sadnik acquired the castle and bequeathed it to Silvia and Clemens Sadnik after their death. With the most loving meticulous work, the two renovated the castle above Fürstenfeld and today offer it as an exclusive event and wedding location. In the three magnificent apartments, the most beautiful days of the year can be perfectly enjoyed. The castle apartment Ortenhofen on the first floor extends over 170 square meters and impresses with luxurious comfort. In the Maria Schnee apartment, the fantastic barrel vault, the heated tiled stove in the bedroom, and the room height of over four meters are particularly impressive. The Augustinergewölbe apartment on the ground floor gets its special flair from the cross-barrel vault.
