A castle full of surprises Even upon arrival, visitors feel like a king or queen: the road leads directly to a beautiful, golden-yellow baroque castle from the late 17th century. Surrounding the noble estate is a spacious castle park with ancient trees, thoughtfully integrated with modern functional buildings, sports halls, and well-maintained sports facilities for almost every discipline. The BSFZ Schielleiten is the most traditional location of the Austrian Sports Resorts (since 1936) – and with its unique ambiance, one of the most beautiful training centers far and wide. Under the motto "Vacation in the castle with sports included," both amateur and elite sports gather here. The grounds cover a vast 43 hectares, most of which are dedicated to sports facilities. Inside the castle and its historic outbuildings, stylish rooms with a noble living atmosphere and well-kept hotel character await. The baroque library, the noble salons, the festival hall, and the south-facing terrace form a wonderful setting for celebrations, weddings, seminars, and events of all kinds. The park, with its atmospheric retreat options, is also a place of rest and relaxation. Those who listen carefully can hear not only the wind in the trees but also the animals of the nearby Herberstein Wildlife Park. The gently hilly surroundings of the "Steirisches ApfelLand" (Styrian Apple Land) and the "Steirische Thermenregion" (Styrian Thermal Bath Region) attract visitors with appealing excursion destinations.
