On Schiferplatz stand the Freihaus of the Lords of Schifer and the former hospital. The hospital church is attached. The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary – originally Gothic, but rebuilt and extended multiple times. Built in 1325 as a church for the hospital founded by the Schaunberg ministerialis Rudolf der Schifer, later called the Princely Baron Schifer’sches Erbstift. Rebuilt in 1432 and 1762 after major fires (renewed tower, magnificent Magdalena Chapel). 1620 high altar with Madonna by Hans Spindler. Closed and sold in 1789, used as a grain storage, magazine, fire station... Repurchased in 1839 by the Bishop of Linz, Gregor Thomas Ziegler, and the renovated hospital church was consecrated 2 years later. In 1865, a hospital ward was established in the Schifer’sches Erbstift, which was significantly enlarged in 1892 and operated until World War I. In 1941, the hospital building and the administrator's house became the property of the municipality.
