Tabor - Ruin, the secret landmark of the city. For a long time, this castle ruin was believed to be a Roman-era structure. In fact, it dates from the Middle Ages. Experts' opinions differ on its function: some consider it a royal residential castle, others a defensive tower. The wall construction suggests that the building was erected in the 14th/15th century. In any case, the Tabor later served defensive purposes. In 1708, it was fortified with palisades and wooden stakes, yet it could not withstand the onslaught of the Kuruc. The Tabor ruin is located on an elevation; from the high walls of the ruin, one has a magnificent view over the city and the lake.
