Märchenwiese Bodental

The small Bodental, framed by the mighty Karawanken mountains, with its pristine nature, is wonderfully beautiful and idyllic. The Märchenwiese (Fairy Tale Meadow) - Carinthia's most beautiful mountain meadow - lives up to its name. The romantic alpine meadow stretches magically in the middle of the forest and ends directly at the vertical rock faces of the Karawanken.Perfect for families with children: A leisurely hike along the "Märchenhafte Augenblicke-Runde" (Fairy Tale Moments Loop) to the Märchenwiese, located in the heart of the Karawanken, in the middle of the Bodental nature reserve. Highlight: The beautiful Meerauge (Sea Eye), a kettle hole created by a glacier during the Ice Age. Starting from the parking lot at Familienhof Sereinig, along path no. 662. After about 20 minutes, the turn-off to the Meerauge is on the right side. Continue to follow path no. 662, past Gasthaus Bodenbauer into the forest. After a total walking time of about one hour, you reach the Märchenwiese without much change in altitude.To return to the starting point, first take the same path, before the Bodenbauer meadow turn left and follow path no. 10 through the forest (slightly uphill). Along the asphalt road back to Familienhof Sereinig.
