Galtür, Tyrol
Built between 1962 and 1969 at an altitude of over 1,800 meters, the Kops Stausee with its double-curved dam walls is a true masterpiece of statics. Nestled in a magnificent landscape, picnicking, fishing, hiking or walking there is twice as much fun! How to get to Kops Stausee: with the Alpkogelbahn to the mountain station from there in the direction of Breitspitzbahn valley station to the shore path of the Kops Stausee Option 1: left over the dam wall to the kiosk of the Kops Stausee Option 2: right along the shore path to the beautifully situated Zeinissee, then via the old Zeinisstraße to Wirl and Galtür. On the way back, you will cross the state border between Tyrol and Vorarlberg, as well as the European watershed Rhine-Danube.
