The Pauline Monastery in Baumgarten, also known as the "Deserted Monastery", was founded in 1475 and is one of the most significant cultural monuments in the region. The late Gothic complex with Baroque furnishings once served as a hermitage and is now a place of Marian veneration, especially for the Burgenland Croats. From May to October, Croatian Fatima celebrations take place on the 13th of each month. The monastery complex is freely accessible all year round and can also be viewed from the inside by prior arrangement.
