Historama Hieflau

The Hieflau coal used to feed the blast furnaces in Eisenerz and was accordingly of great importance in the region. The almost 400-year-old charcoal burning on the Hieflauer-Lend is documented by a walk-in charcoal pile in original size, a partial reconstruction of the Enns log raft boom, a water wheel for driving the wood lift, and the mining history museum. Land & People in Hieflau – A Historical Picture Journey This special exhibition with 16 photographs aims to take visitors on a journey through time into the past and also a little into the future. The pictures also show the land and people in Hieflau in the 21st century. The exhibition provides an overview of Hieflau's eventful history – from geological history to the present day. Thanks to funding from Department 9, Culture of the State of Styria, the premises of the existing charcoal pile could be redesigned in regional cooperation.
