Heimatmuseum Holzgau

Heimatmuseum Holzgau

Holzgau, Tyrol

ausstellungmuseumstour

The local history museum can only be visited as part of a guided tour with Elsa Knitel. The tours take place in the summer months from July to early September as part of the village and cultural walk. The meeting point is the village square Holzgau. With the Lechtal Activ Card, the tour is free, and registration is not necessary. The building was constructed in the 18th century with two stories over a T-shaped floor plan, with the residential part in the eastern half being excavated. The economic part runs transversely to the ridge of the residential part. The double house has a brick foundation, above which it is built in sheathed log construction. The living areas are separated along the ridge. In house part No. 35, the local history museum has found its place; in No. 34, the corner hallway opens up to the living room and kitchen, and the chambers are located on the upper floor. Both the economic part and the residential part have a shingle-covered gable roof. The residential part impresses with its rich facade painting, which is presumably attributable to the Zeiller workshop.
