The Haus der Volkskultur sees itself as a cross-border dialect institute and competence center for Burgenland folk culture and was opened in 2003. Administered by the Burgenländisch-Hianzische Gesellschaft (Hianzenverein), the house also accommodates the Burgenländisches Volksliedwerk and the Museumsverein Oberschützen. It consists of the old existing building, a revitalized farmhouse, which houses the Museumsverein with the Simon collection and the Wimmer Museum, and the new building with the offices of the Hianzenverein and the Burgenländisches Volksliedwerk, as well as a courtyard-side glazed aula, a large event hall, and a specialized library. The small art gallery, located in the former stable, as well as a large Kulturstadl (culture barn), which is also used for events, also belong to this building complex.
