Gmöser Moor

The Gmöser Moor, as it presents itself today, has largely lost its original vegetation typical of moors due to human intervention in the past. Its enormous value as a nature reserve comes primarily from the enormous diversity of birds that use the Gmöser Moor as a breeding ground, a resting stop during migration, or a food source. At least 95 different bird species have been observed here, of which 41 species regularly breed in the nature reserve, including many popular songbird species such as various tits, finches, and more. In addition to grey herons, white storks have also been observed as migratory birds.
