Right by the church around the corner, not quite at the Kirchenwirt in the center of the small village of Gams, is – how could it be otherwise – a museum. It revolves around rocks, minerals, and fossils and is nevertheless (or precisely because of that) incredibly exciting. Especially if you visit the museum as part of a guided tour, you really get something out of it afterwards and feel like a sponge full of knowledge. And suddenly you also understand why it is rumored that the GeoRama in Gams is the most beautiful geological museum. On top of that, it is part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks! We would also give it the predicate "most cordial" museum. What is jet? If you don't know anything, you look stupid. But that changes in terms of geology at the latest after a visit to the GeoRama. There you hear, for example, about jet, which was once mined here in Gams. This special type of coal is very light and was formerly processed into jewelry and rosaries. You never stop learning. Furthermore – and this is actually something you can try out yourself during your visit to Gams – 14 different fossils such as snails or mussels have already been found in this small, special place. Perhaps the 15th will appear soon?
