Gebeinhaus | Martinskapelle Elbigenalp

The charnel house, also ossuary, is a covered room intended for the storage of bones. The term Karner, also Gerner, refers to a chapel also used as a charnel house. The Martinskapelle was built in the 15th century above the charnel house. Worth seeing are the panels with the 18 pictures of the Dance of Death from 1840, each provided with a verse.
