Feuerwehrauto und Briefkasten Bairisch Kölldorf

The small village of Bairisch Kölldorf in the municipality of Bad Gleichenberg has achieved a stroke of genius. Instead of building a purely functional fire station like all the others, the residents of Bairisch Kölldorf have erected a landmark: the largest fire truck in the world, which isn't even a fire truck! For many firefighters and guests from near and far, the original fire station, which houses three fire engines and other equipment, is definitely worth a trip. "Actually, it's a normal brick-concrete building," explains Andreas Posch from the volunteer fire department, "only the facade has the shape of a fire engine." All the "gadgets" on the house, such as turn signals, blue lights, windshield wipers, and headlights, actually work. An attraction is the three-meter-tall firefighter, who sprays water across the grounds daily from May to October at 11:45 AM.
