Almsee Nature Reserve - Pure NatureHere, the landscape sets the tone: pure nature and a carefully protected environment. It is not without reason that the area around Almsee was chosen as a landscape protection area and can enjoy being considered one of the few mountain lakes that have been spared from construction booms and shoreline development. To this day, Almsee with its fascinating wildlife has remained a jewel of the Alps. The lake is approx. 2 km long and 700 m wide, 9 m deep, and lies 589 m above sea level. Due to the inflow of the ice-cold Aagbach and groundwater springs, Almsee remains wonderfully cool (18°C) even in summer.On a circular hiking trail of approx. 6 km, you can enjoy the wonderful tranquility on the resting benches. Follow the path also to the "Schöne Aussicht" (Beautiful View). Here you can sit in hanging chairs and observe the reflections in the water.Camping, diving, surfing, sailing, stand-up paddling, and e-motorboats are not allowed on Almsee. Only rowing from 8 AM to 6 PM from April 15 to October 1 is permitted.In winter, the country road to Almsee is cleared, but there are no cleared winter hiking trails in this area. Entering the paths and ice surfaces is at your own risk!Please note that a daily fee of € 5,- must be paid at both parking areas at Almsee. We ask you to use only the designated parking spaces!
