What's it about?

Considering the absurdity of life and the deep sadness that humans must die and therefore cannot be truly happy, the Roman Emperor Caligula begins to use his unlimited power for his own ends. His confidants still fulfill every cruel wish, while the Senate desperately tries to curb his most unpredictable whims and steer them into productive channels. But Caligula only wishes to possess the moon, and the state budget must be reformed... Albert Camus combines grand historical drama with his sharply laconic dialogue and the famous philosophy of the Absurd. Thus, an ancient tyrant becomes a modern character who seeks unbridled freedom in a political system that cannot control his arbitrary actions.
