What's it about?

Our environment is visibly changing: in landscapes, climate, and the habitats we all depend on. At the same time, new technologies, digital data, and global networking are changing the way we perceive, understand, and shape our environment. The "Connected" Environmental Congress invites you to jointly explore these new human-environment relationships. The congress follows a clear dramaturgy: from the measured environment to the protected environment to the transformed environment. It begins with close observation: with the help of measurement programs, environmental monitoring, and scientific analyses, it becomes visible how our environment is changing – and how closely human actions and ecological processes are intertwined. Building on this, the question of responsibility takes center stage: soil, water, and natural habitats are under growing pressure. How can we use these resources in a way that preserves their regenerative capacity? How can protection, use, and social development be combined? Finally, the focus shifts forward: to the transformed environment. The 20-year measurement program on the Dachstein Glacier impressively shows how scientific observations can become learning spaces for social transformation. What we recognize also changes our actions. The congress connects scientific perspectives with impulses from administration, education, art, and practice. In the spirit of digital humanism, it is about bringing together knowledge, technological possibilities, and ethical responsibility. This creates a space for exchange, orientation, and new ideas for sustainable human-environment relationships.
