What's it about?

Duo Vineta Lisanne Altrov: Violin and Baroque violin Elisabeth Müller: Accordion Lisanne Altrov and Elisabeth Müller make music and improvise together according to the motto: gaining new from tradition. They combine echoes of folk music with the art of fugato playing and work with the alienation and embedding of these models in contemporary music. In addition, early Baroque basso continuo sonatas form a focus of their collaboration. The combination of modern instruments with the practice of basso continuo playing offers unexpected timbres and an enormous expansion of the repertoire with the accordion. Out the window... A lady stands looking out of the open window in Caspar David Friedrich's painting "Woman at the Window". She looks out and we with her. What does she see outside? What does she dream of? What does she long for? Musically, too, we turn our gaze outwards into the open. We follow in the footsteps of a nun who, protected by monastery walls, writes secular sonatas and dream ourselves with Francesca Caccini to the green hills of Tuscany. But outside, not only freedom beckons, but also the storms of life await. Keiko Harada exposes us to sound forces and massive eruptions that push the accordion to its mechanical limits. Contrasts between almost absolute calm and manic forces that sweep over us like a tsunami characterize her compositional style. Rebecca Saunders shakes us even more: we experience it like in the whirlpool of Scylla in the Odyssey - we are just passengers, the sounds overwhelm us and take our breath away. But something keeps us afloat: the unwavering faith that Sofia Gubaidulina weaves into her works. All composers have one thing in common: the openness, the joy of experimentation and the willingness to take risks, to look out of their spaces.
