What's it about?

In this photographic series, the photographer focuses on the social meanings of spaces. The focus is on inns in rural regions of Upper Austria that have already closed or are on the verge of closing. She approaches the inn photographically as a silent archive of lived community. Faded colors, patina, and aged wood bear traces of conversations and habits that were commonplace here. The images refer to the disappearance of social places and the void they leave in communal life. Nostalgia and memory form the atmospheric framework of the series and open up the question of what remains when such spaces fall silent and where community is negotiated today.
