Weinbergkapelle

The Weinbergkapelle (vineyard chapel) is located between Oberpullendorf and Dörfl above the sports field and cemetery in the area of the so-called Szölö (old field name, German: vineyard). A first chapel building outside the village was donated in 1736 by Emmerich Madarász and consecrated to the holy bishops Donatus and Martin. Its current appearance with a polygonal apse, gabled roof, narthex, and gable turret dates back to renovations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior is divided into fields, in which the pointed-arch windows are located on the side fronts. The three staggered pointed-arch openings to the narthex in the facade, above which the continuous cornice is drawn up in a pointed arch, give the show side of the small church a claim to sublimity. The interior is vaulted with a polygonal pointed barrel vault, and the altar area is separated by a decorative choir screen. A high-quality 18th-century sandstone figure of Mary is placed on the altar. The stained-glass windows from 1928 show the saints Antonius, Josef, Johannes, and Rosalie of Palermo as half-figures under gables, after whom the church is also called "Rosalienkapelle".
