The church, situated high on the Jakob rock, is one of the oldest fortified buildings in Carinthia and features Roman stones, marble reliefs, and frescoes, including a Christopher fresco and remnants of a fresco of Jesus on the Mount of Olives. To this day, some parts of the Romanesque building from the 12th century are still visible, e.g., the round tower, loopholes, churchyard wall, and the arch of the east gate. Over the centuries, work was done on the church, so the house of worship with its vaulted hall also shows Gothic traces and the style of Baroque sacred buildings. Visits are possible by prior arrangement with the chairman of the parish council, Mr. Thomas Rindler, Tel. +43 664 75073515.
