Wehrkirche „Mariä Krönung“

The fortified church “Maria Krönung” in Marz is an important sacred building in Burgenland. Situated on a hill above Ambrosius-Salzer-Platz, it is surrounded by a medieval defensive wall. The originally Gothic building was rebuilt after a fire in 1683 by master builder Zacharias Gundian, using the old masonry. Inside, the late Baroque high altar from the late 18th century impresses with a depiction of the Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven. The church is a protected monument and an impressive testimony to the history and architecture of the region.
