Now follows a gently ascending and well-marked shady forest trail through a beautiful mixed forest. Near the top, there is an intersection. To the left, it leads to the highest point of the Almerberg, and to the right downhill over the Reichenweg onto the Wiestalstraße. Then turn left and continue a short distance along the road to Gasthof Bischof (Tuesday closed). Return via the same path or via Wiestalstraße and Hellabründl back to Oberalm. Walking time approx. 3 hours round trip Getting there to the starting point: Church, large parking lot next to it Bus 160, stop Zentrum S-Bahn, stop Oberalm Zentrum Distance of the hike: 13 km Elevation gain: 200 m Difficulty level: easy Refreshment options: all innkeepers and coffee houses in the town center, Hammerwirt and Gasthof Bischof Points of interest along the way: Schrannentisch: Oberalm still has one of the few "Schrannentische" in the Salzburg region. It is a former court and assembly place where justice was spoken once a year in the Middle Ages. Right next to it is a hundred-year-old linden tree. The linden is a Celtic tree circle symbol. "For the Celts and Germans, the linden served as a court tree. It was the tree under which justice was spoken. The community of a village gathered under it to find the truth. This also helped to mitigate disputes among people." (from http://www.baumkreis.de, 24.1.07)
