St. Michael in der Obersteiermark, Styria
The church, dedicated to St. Walpurga, was built in 1070 by the Slavic nobleman Tridislaw and his wife Zlawa. According to legend, they got lost while hunting and couldn't find their way back. Then a woman in white, flowing clothes appeared to them, and shortly thereafter, the two were found and rescued by their entourage. A hermit interpreted the apparition as St. Walpurga, and out of gratitude for their rescue, they had the Walpurgiskirchlein built.
