Trins, Tyrol
Between Trins and Gschnitz, the pilgrimage church of St. Magdalena rises 400 m above the valley floor on a steep, overgrown rocky slope. The mysterious pilgrimage site was first documented in 1307, but a pre-Christian cult site is suspected there. The fact is that the Romanesque frescoes from around 1200 are among the oldest murals in Tyrol. St. Magdalena can be reached from Gschnitz in about 1.5 hours walking time. There is also a via ferrata of difficulty B/C leading to the church. Every effort is rewarded by the unique location and the fantastic view. The Jausenstation (snack station) St. Magdalena is open from approximately the end of May to the end of September.
