Wallfahrtskirche Maria Schnee Kalkstein

Innervillgraten, Tyrol

Kalkstein, a hamlet of Innervillgraten, is located approximately 4 km from the village of Innervillgraten. The pilgrimage church Maria Schnee was consecrated in 1875. The exterior, apart from a continuous plinth, has no special articulation. The sacristy is built into the east side. The interior of the Neo-Gothic building features simple star rib vaulting with a pointed chancel arch. The small village of Kalkstein also became known as the filming location for Ganghofer's movie "Gewitter im Mai".
