The pilgrimage church is consecrated to the "Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Health of the Sick". Mary on the high altar is still the most revered today. The numerous votive tablets in the old presbytery are diverse signs of the trust and gratitude of the pious devotees of Mary. The altar niche contains a life-sized statue of Mary with the infant Jesus (Gothic), surrounded by a delicate halo and a lively round dance of angels. Two hovering angels hold a crown over Mary. The banner reads: "Holy Mary, Mother of beautiful love and holy hope, you Health of the Sick in Neustift, pray for us." Above the altar niche are two angelic figures, above the column capitals on the Evangelist side St. Benedict, on the Epistle side St. Berthold. St. Florian and St. George guard the sanctuary.
