The hike begins at the Steinerhütte, a popular starting point in the region. From here, the well-marked path first leads through dense forests, which provide pleasant shade in summer. The trail is varied and repeatedly offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountain landscape. After about an hour, you reach a picturesque Alm (mountain pasture) meadow section, which is excellent for a short rest. Here you can enjoy the tranquility of nature and gather strength for the further ascent. The path to the Großer Sauofen now becomes a bit steeper and rockier, which requires surefootedness. But the effort is worth it: once at the summit, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama. The view sweeps over the entire Carinthian mountain world and makes hikers' hearts beat faster. After a well-deserved break and an entry in the summit book, you return to the Steinerhütte via the same path.
