St. Nikola, Upper Austria
In 1813, the municipality bought the Dietrich family's house and adapted it as a school building. In 1905, the school was completely rebuilt, and in 1920, electricity was installed. In 1949, the toilets were equipped with a flush system. In 1951, a student bath was installed – four shower cabins, a bathtub, and a boiler room formed the newly created bathing facility. In March 1956, temperatures of –25 degrees Celsius were measured. In 1963, central heating was installed, as well as parquet floors and running water in the classrooms in 1965. In 1971, the upper level of the Volksschule (elementary school) was discontinued, and children had to travel to Grein after the 4th grade.
