BIODIVERSE WORLD HERITAGE NATURE PARK ON THE LEITHAGEBIRGESchmalanger and row of barns, fortified church and Streckhof (longhouse), Kellergasse (wine cellar lane) and stork's nest: In the heart of extended Europe, directly at the transition between the Pannonian Plain and the foothills of the Alps, on the shore of the westernmost European steppe lake, lies the World Heritage Nature Park Neusiedler See-Leithagebirge with the five towns of Breitenbrunn am Neusiedler See, Donnerskirchen, Jois, Purbach am Neusiedler See and Winden am See. The town centers all breathe history and are full of pulsating life. The balanced mix of nature and landscape protection areas, the small-scale cultivated cultural landscape, the historic buildings in the towns and the thousands of years of influence from many ethnic groups make this nature park so unique. Visitor ProgramTo get to know the diverse fauna and flora in the nature park, a wide-ranging, year-round visiting program is put together. In addition to guided hikes, seminars and courses, specialized excursions and expert days, as well as boat excursions to the mouth of the Wulka into Lake Neusiedl, are also offered.
