Taurachbahn - Mauterndorf

An excursion for young and old.The historic town of Mauterndorf with its beautiful castle has been connected to the wider world by the Murtalbahn since 1894. Low passenger numbers and little freight traffic led to the discontinuation of railway operations from Mauterndorf to Tamsweg in 1980.The Club 760 - Association of Friends of the Murtalbahn leased this route shortly thereafter, managed its reconstruction, and has been operating the Taurachbahn since 1988.
