Up to the Tauplitzalm on one of Austria's most beautiful Alpine roads The high plateau of the Tauplitzalm, a landscape that is among the most impressive natural jewels of the Alps, is reached via the ten-kilometer-long, romantic Tauplitzalm Alpine Road. Up on the plateau, an impressive mountain backdrop awaits: The mighty Grimming in the south, the Totes Gebirge in the north, the Dachstein massif in the west, and the striking mountains of the Gesäuse in the east. Whether by private vehicle, ski bus, or one of the regular buses: The journey combines great panoramic views with relaxed driving pleasure. The 8 serpentines and hairpin bends are particularly appealing for motorcyclists. The ideal starting point for some of the most popular summer & winter activities in the Ausseerland Numerous hikes and tours for every fitness level, from leisurely walks to the starting point for challenging mountain tours, can be discovered here. The beautiful Alm (mountain pasture) landscape invites you to slow down: Cozy inns and quiet huts offer ideal places to rest and enjoy the unique natural scenery. In summer, hikers can leave their car behind from up here and experience nature in its most pristine form on Europe's largest lake high plateau and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The Tauplitzalm boasts a total of six crystal-clear mountain lakes, which lie scattered across the plateau like blue eyes in the idyllic landscape. All mountain lakes can be explored along the fantastic Alpine landscape on the 6-Lakes-Hike. In winter, visitors can reach the Mitterstein 8-person gondola via the Alpine road or continue up to the Tauplitzalm. From there, the numerous slopes of the Tauplitz ski area can be explored on skis or a snowboard. The plateau is also a true cross-country skiing paradise for cross-country skiers.
