Stiftskirche Waldhausen im Strudengau

Waldhausen, Upper Austria

The village of Waldhausen received its name from "Silvia domus" - "the house in the forest", as the monastery was called when it was founded around 1150. Today, one experiences with awe and wonder the beauty and the immense dimension of the early Baroque collegiate church, which was formerly part of the large monastery complex. Even today, the collegiate church is a center of cultural life. You should certainly visit the widely renowned organ concerts and the Waldhausen Advent with "Music for Christmas" on December 8th.Guided tours by prior arrangement with the parish office - Also in EnglishDuration: approx. 30 minutes.Opening hours: Daily from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PMWaldhausen im Strudengau is located in a charming, gentle hilly landscape. The swimming lake, wheelchair-accessible hiking trails, wellness and cultural offerings make your vacation an unforgettable experience!DIRECTIONSArrival by car A1 from Salzburg:- Leave the motorway in Amstetten (exit West)- Continue towards Grein (19 KM)- Continue towards Sarmingstein (7 KM)- In Sarmingstein, turn left towards Waldhausen (8 KM)Arrival by car A1 from Vienna:- Leave the motorway in Ybbs- Continue through Ybbs towards Grein (22 KM)- In Sarmingstein, turn right towards Waldhausen (8 KM)Arrival by train:Westbahnhof to St. Valentin, change to the DonauuferbahnWestbahnhof to Amstetten, change to the bus towards Grein, Waldhausen, Dorfstetten
