Steyrdorf

Dunklhof in Steyr, Kirchengasse 16. The residential building from the 15th century was the seat of the lower court and is the oldest part of the building complex. The courtyard with its arcaded walkway from the 16th century shows richly decorated columns and corner pillars adorned with tracery ornamentation. The poet and novelist Dora Dunkl lived here. Roter Brunnen (Red Fountain) At the end of Kirchengasse is a small square from which Sierninger Straße and Gleinker Gasse branch off. The Roter Brunnen stands here in the center of the Steyrdorf district. It gets its name from its former copper roofing. The residents of the surrounding houses fetched their water and washed their laundry here. The fountain is crowned by a delicate statue of Mary (18th century). Lebzelterhaus (Gingerbread Maker's House) In this bourgeois house, built around 1600, gingerbread, wax candles, and mead were produced until the mid-19th century.
