The Klagenfurt Observatory, located on the Kreuzbergl, is a center for astronomy and science communication and is managed by the Astronomical Association of Carinthia. It was built in 1965 and is located on the viewing platform, which was erected 100 years ago in honor of Emperor Franz Josef and his wife Sissi. Visitors can observe celestial phenomena such as the moon, planets, or constellations. Regular guided tours and lectures impart astronomical knowledge for interested people of all ages. The observatory is embedded in the nature of the Kreuzbergl, which makes it a popular excursion destination. It promotes understanding of the universe and inspires with views into the depths of the cosmos.
