Steyr Parish Church exteriorThis 3-nave hall church, the "Steyr Minster", was built from 1443 to 1522, partly according to plans by the Vienna Cathedral Workshop (Hans Puchsbaum). It is consecrated to Saints Giles and Coloman and was built during Steyr's heyday in place of the earlier Romanesque church. After a fire, the 80 m high tower, in which a fire warden grotesquely lived, was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style (1885-1889).Steyr Parish Church interiorThe Gothic vault is supported by 12 clustered columns. The high altar was erected in 1857 in memory of the fortunate outcome of the assassination attempt on Emperor Franz Josef. Two church windows (14th/15th century) are particularly valuable: the first window on the right at the back, the "Laxenburg Window", consisting of several panels, and the window after next, which depicts the death of Mary and her coronation in heaven. Baptismal font (1569), Chrisman organ.
