Wels, Upper Austria
The Wels Minorite monastery was founded around 1280 by the Wels Polheimers. The Minorite church was built around 1300, of which the choir with mighty buttresses and the cross-ribbed vault in its original form is still preserved. The Minorites received numerous donations and testamentary bequests from Wels citizens and nobles as well as from the Habsburgs. In return, the Minorites committed themselves to holding church services, devotions and intercessions.
