Permanent exhibition and living museum Medieval and early modern everyday culture. Archaeologists processing finds. The objects largely come from excavations in latrines, the waste disposals of the Middle Ages. Together with the background images, the originals illustrate various areas of daily life approximately 500 years ago. The long journey from excavation find to exhibit is little known. Museum visitors can observe archaeologists processing finds every Wednesday and ask them about their work. The collection currently comprises approximately 2,300 restored objects and well over 140,000 scientific proofs/finds from over 120 excavations. Museum history: The museum was founded in 2006. At that time, it was located in a late Gothic house in the old town (Salvatorgasse 20). Only in 2008 did the museum move to Burg Hasegg. The scientists of the City Archaeology (building researcher Dipl.-Ing. Walter Hauser and city archaeologist Mag. Dr. Alexander Zanesco) researched the late Gothic building housing the museum as part of an extensive revitalization project.
