The true age of the small filial church of St. Laurentius in Althofen is not apparent. Archaeological excavations have uncovered clear remains of several predecessor churches. In any case, the presence of the old burial rights also indicates the church's great age. In 1744, Pastor Anton Buecher had the Gothic church demolished and replaced by a Baroque central building designed by the court master builder Johann Kleber. The outwardly plain structure is built on a cloverleaf-shaped floor plan, topped by a roof lantern with a lantern. During the last restoration in 1983, the exemplary and restored interior impresses with its overall appearance. The original surface still shows the charming ensemble of the three altars.
