The Bürgerspitalkirche St. Jakob, Gmunden's oldest church, was built around 1340 and belonged to the nearby "Bürgerspital" (citizens' hospital), a social welfare institution in Gmunden. From the 15th century, it served as a house church and burial site for personalities of the Salzamt in the adjacent Kammerhof. From 1891 to 1911, the church's Neo-Gothic interior was created in the workshop of sculptor Josef Untersberger in Gmunden. Today it is part of the Kammerhofmuseum and is also used for exhibitions.More information can be found at Gmunden's Treasures!More information about the grave slabs in the entrance area can be found at Gmunden's Treasures!
