Spätgotische Pfarrkirche Vorderstoder - Hl. Leopold

Spätgotische Pfarrkirche Vorderstoder - Hl. Leopold

Vorderstoder, Upper Austria

The high altar painting by Martin Johann Schmidt, "Kremser Schmidt" (1771), with the inscription: "Saint Leopold consecrates his foundation to the Mother of God," bears witness to this. The elegant figures of the Three Kings by Johann Bapt. Carlperger from the Schwanthaler family (1705) on the right side altar commemorate Leopold's canonization on Epiphany in 1485. Two of the three church bells bear the casting date 1401 and are among the oldest church bells in Upper Austria. In the apse, there are almost life-sized statues of Saint Isidor and Saint Josef, the patrons for the work and economic sectors of the parish: agriculture and forestry. Restoration 1988-1992. The late Gothic Madonna of the altar of grace "Maria am Stein" - surrounded by Saint Joachim and Saint Anna - depicts Mary as the Queen of Heaven. In the 17th century, a significant pilgrimage movement developed around the miraculous image "Maria am Stein." The parish church of Vorderstoder was completely restored between 1988 and 1992.
