Name: Late Baroque Parish Church Hinterstoder - "Exaltation of the Cross" Description: Construction of the church in Hinterstoder, a late Baroque hall church with a tower dome, began in 1783 and was completed in 2 years. 18 masons, 1 mortar mixer, and 17 carpenters worked on it. The benediction took place on "the 16th autumn month of the year 1787" on the Sunday after the Exaltation of the Cross, which is why it is also called the "Holy Cross Church." The solemn blessing was performed by Provost Josef Grundtner of Spital am Pyhrn, by delegation of the Bishop of Linz. The ecclesiastical furnishings were mainly provided by Spital am Pyhrn Abbey. With a decree dated October 20, 1787, the Bishop of Linz, Count Herberstein, appointed the cooperator of Vorderstoder, Matthäus Lichtenauer, as the parish priest of Inner- (Hinter-)stoder, who later became the last provost of Spital am Pyhrn. From that day on, Hinterstoder had its own parish priest and was entirely independent and autonomous in pastoral care. In 1787, the new school building (next to the church) was also built.
