Skiing & Snowboarding Alpine skiing is the classic among winter sports, but gliding over the slopes on a snowboard has also been one of the most popular outdoor sports since the competition boom in the 1990s. The 13 kilometers of slopes in the Simonhöhe sun ski area can be explored and enjoyed with one or two "boards" under your feet. The most beautiful routes for winter walks In the cold season, the Simonhöhe transforms into a true winter wonderland. Enjoy breathtaking views and great moments in the heart of the Gurktal Alps. Our hiking recommendations for summer tours also apply to winter walks - the picturesque village of Hoch St. Paul with its charming chapel turns out to be a highlight for many visitors. Winter hikes Even without any winter sports equipment, a visit to the Simonhöhe is worthwhile: the clear mountain air is proven to be beneficial for body and mind, even a short hike through our winter wonderland clears your head and lets all stress fall away. A variety of marked hiking trails give you the opportunity to explore the winter Alm (mountain pasture) world at your own pace. At the latest, when the sun's rays blink through the treetops and the snow crunches under your shoes, this wonderfully relaxing feeling of being in harmony with nature spreads. Night tobogganing under floodlights A true highlight for young and old is the Friday night tobogganing event along the new toboggan run. Getting back to the start is easy and convenient with a platter lift! Uphill tobogganing on the Muldenlift Our Muldenlift is the center of our newest attraction this winter – uphill tobogganing by drag lift! Sleds will be available for rent on site, which can be pulled uphill by the platter hangers of the Muldenlift thanks to a special holding device. A separate toboggan run is created along the former (and now, for safety reasons, understandably closed to skiers) slope. Uphill tobogganing will be offered from December 20, 2025, always from Friday to Sunday and daily during opening hours during the Christmas and semester holidays. A special highlight is night tobogganing, which will be possible every Friday until 8 PM. Ski tours Fresh natural snow, warming sun rays and the best view over Central Carinthia – due to its perfect location, the Simonhöhe is now considered an insider tip among ski tourers for relaxing day and half-day tours.
